Surprises and gifts for your special day
Celebrating a wedding over the summer? If so you’re not doubt fully immersed in ticking off all those last-minute jobs before the big day – making up favours, writing place name cards and putting the final touches to your decorations. It’s an incredibly busy but exciting time so be sure to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience without crumpling into a huge ball of stress! It’s a good idea to accept offers of help wherever possible in the run-up to the big day so you can focus on the little extras that will make your special day truly unique to you and your husband or wife-to-be. You might want to focus your attentions on creating your own bespoke wedding favours, for example, or creating unique goody bags for your bridesmaids, flower girls, page boys and ushers. So, take on help getting the less creative stuff done so you have time to get stuck into these enjoyable projects.
If you’ve yet to source your wedding favours, we have some lovely boxes, bags and moulded plastic cases you might like to consider which make a good starting point for creating bespoke keepsakes to offer your guests. Traditionally filled with sugared almonds or dragees, you can jazz up your boxes, bags or cases with ribbons, luggage tags inscribed with the wedding date or other decorative accessories. For something a bit more contemporary we love the idea of filling one of our hot pink organza bags with retro-inspired love heart sweets. Why not attach a striped candy cane sweet to the draw string and tie with a vintage-look instagram photo of the bride and groom? As we often suggest, Pinterest is a treasure trove of wedding inspiration, and if you search for wedding favours you’ll find an exhaustive range of ideas to suit all colour schemes and wedding themes.
While on the subject of thankyous you’ll want to make some small gesture to the key players in your big day – bridesmaids and page boys, for example. Our wedding cufflinks make a lovely gift to the men in your party, from the best man to father of the bride, pageboy to usher. Featuring a simple black on white design these fun but tasteful cufflinks will look lovely on the day and make a great memento for your guests to keep. While on the subject of male guests, how about complimenting cufflinks with some matching wedding socks? In an unobtrusive black colour, these cotton socks feature a subtle box inscribed with each person’s role – there are even children’s versions in size 9-12 for the younger members in your party.
Bridesmaids and flower girls traditionally receive a small gift, also, which often takes the shape of a piece of jewellery – what girl wouldn’t be happy with something sparkly? But with the ever increasing costs associated with weddings don’t worry if your budget for gifts can’t stretch to real gems or sterling silver. There are some lovely pieces available and a great place to start your research is gift specialist notonthehighstreet.com
which offers an imaginative range of jewellery and other pieces which make gorgeous thankyou presents. We love the Bridesmaid mugs and pewter heart tokens. Our organza bags make the perfect wrapping for small items such as jewellery and tokens.
And what of the bride and groom themselves? Why not treat yourselves to a small, fun gift to unwrap at the end of your wedding party? Our Diamond-t honeymoon range is perfect, and makes a fab surprise for your new husband or wife. Inscribed with the words ‘Just Married’, the line includes flip flops, beach towels, and t-shirts. A fun way to announce your new status while soaking up the sun on your honeymoon…Wishing all brides and grooms- to-be a very happy and wonderful wedding!
